Website Design Glossary of Terms
More than just building a website...
| ASP | Active Server Pages - this is a coding language used to develop custom applications for the web. |
| Browser | The window/application you use to navigate the internet. |
| CSS | Cascading Style Sheets. A programming language used to define the way an HTML document will look. |
| FireFox | A browser that was developed to compete with IE and others, created and distributed by Mozilla. |
| FTP | File Transfer Protocal. This is when you take a file transfer it to a server and allow someone else to transfer that file to their computer. |
| HTML | Hypertext Markup Language - this is the standard format used to display information on the web. |
| IE | An abbreviation for the term Internet Explorer. |
| PHP | Hypertext Preprocessor - another programming language used by developers to create dynamic content. |
| SQL | Structured Query Language. A syntax for defining and manipulating data from a relational database. |
